Sheila Ann Snodgrass DVM

Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist

The Doctor's History

Dr.Snodgrass graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After years of practicing small animal medicine, she decided to revive an earlier interest in acupuncture.

She was first introduced to acupuncture as a preveterinary student when she had the opportunity to observe an acupuncturist treat pets suffering from arthritis and other painful musculoskeletal problems.

The results were amazing. This experience led Dr. Snodgrass into the study of acupuncture and in 2002 she became certified in veterinary acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.

In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Snodgrass has special interest in nutrition and herbal medicine. She prefers a holistic approach to the acupuncture patient. Instead of treating a set of symptoms, the whole pet is evaluated and treated as an individual.

The initial consultation will usually take about 60 minutes. During this visit, Dr.Snodgrass will take a detailed history and perform a thorough physical exam. A treatment plan is then formulated for the pet. This usually involves weekly treatments for the first 3-6 weeks, then treatments are tapered to maintain the pet's response.
